Short answer
During a power outage, the feeder automatically switches to battery power (4 x AA batteries) and the feeding schedule continues as normal. Always ensure fresh batteries are installed as backup power. If the batteries also fail, the feeder will not operate until power is restored.

You're away from home for the day and the power goes out in your area. Your first thought: did my cat get his food? The Prime AnimalZ feeder has a built-in battery backup designed for exactly these situations.
What happens to the feeder during a power outage
The feeder has a dual power source: mains power via the adapter and a battery compartment for 4 AA batteries. As soon as mains power is lost, the feeder immediately switches to battery power. The feeding schedule remains active. The HD camera and WiFi connection will be unavailable, but the mechanical feeding mechanism continues to function on battery power.
