Can I use a double bowl for a kitten and an adult cat?

No. A kitten needs 3–4 small meals per day, an adult cat needs 2 larger ones. Kitten food has a different calorie density than adult food. With a double bowl you cannot make that separation. Use two separate automatic feeders: one programmed for kitten portions, one for adult portions. Place them at least 1.5 metres apart to prevent feeding conflicts.

How far apart should I place the two feeders?

At least 1.5 metres. Cats are territorial when eating — if the bowls are too close together, the dominant cat can stand at both bowls and block the other cat. At 1.5+ metres the dominant cat can only be at one bowl at a time. Ideally place the bowls in different corners of the room or in different rooms.

What if my cat eats from the wrong bowl?
